Disney's Enchanted Movie - Blends the real world with the animated movie world

Disney's Enchanted tells the story of a princess wanna-be who at first blush thinks she has found true love with Princess Edward in Andalaysia, but after being transported to New York City by Princess Edward's evil stepmother Giselle discovers that Princess Edward, while nice, may not be her true love. Throughout Disney's Enchanted we follow Giselle on a journey of self-discovery, as she finds out what it means to participate in the real world.

Disney's Enchanted starring Amy Adams and Patrick Demsey made my list because it is a fun entertaining and musical ride. It skillfully show that while beautiful and magical stories, Disney's cartoon movies are just that, fantasy. It subtly shows the audience that fairy tales create idealistic worlds that do not leave room for human emotions such as anger. Life in the real world may look and sound different, but it can be just as enchanted.

I love how Prince Edward is always referring to the people in the street as peasants, reminding us that he is royalty, and while he likes himself, there is room for improvement. The scene when Prince Edward saves the peasants from the city bus is hilarious. He expects gratitude but is faced with an angry bus driver.

Princess Edward is further thrown off his game when cyclists run him over as he break out in song in the park. I have a feeling that in Anadalaysia this kind of accident would not befall him. After all, Andalaysia is a place for grand romantic gestures, and a place where perfection is not overrated.

Another two of my favorite scenes are when Giselle calls real live vermin to clean Robert's house, while cute in Anadalaysia, these rodents are not a desired addition to a New York apartment. Could you imagine waking up to find you house filled with rats and pigeons? I get shivers just thinking about it. Despite that it makes a funny scene to watch.

I also enjoy the scene where Giselle cuts up the living room curtains to make a dress for herself. This act while accepted in any good fairy tale, even a valued skill, is met with anger and disbelief. These confrontations between the cartoon world and the three dimensional one make for the most enjoyable scenes.

I would be remiss, if I didn't touch on the musical numbers preformed in the film. You cannot help bopping you head and even singing along with such upbeat and happy music. I bet if I sang Giselle's working song doing my household chores I would like doing them a whole lot better. This movie lifts one spirits, and makes you glad to be watching it.

Below you will find a preview of Disney's Enchanted. Check it out to remind you of the enchanting time you'll have watching Enchanted.

Disney's Tangled Animation Tale - Rapunzel let down your hair

Walt Disney's Tangled tells the story of Rapunzel locked away in a tower. She has never been outside the confines of her home until Flynn Ryder shows up looking for a place to hide from his pursuers. Flynn is a thief who is coerced into taking Rapunzel on an outing neither of them will soon forget. Though the journey we come to learn the truth about Rapunzel origin, including her remarkable healing hail, and the vain woman she calls mom.

Disney's Tangled makes my top ten list because the story of the shut in kidnapped victim is compelling. Furthermore the characters are strong and charismatic.. They invite you in from the very beginning.

One of my favorite scene, in this Disney film, is when we are introduced to Rapunzel's mom. Her vanity knows no bounds. You cannot help but feel like the mother hold some resentment toward her daughter. Her off handed dismissals and back handed compliments showcase her anger from the beginning. We are immediately sympathetic to the shut in, Rapunzelm in this animated classic.

The viewer cannot help but be drawn in by Flynn Ryder and his horse's hate-love-hate relationship. Circumstances brought them together and the two are anything but fast friends. It is through this journey with Rapunzel that they find common ground and begin to appreciate each other for who they are.

The lanterns seem to take on a voice within this Disney animated film. These lanterns captivate us and we can not help but wonder about their origin. It is the lanterns that catapult the adventure and spurs Rapunzel to find the answers to questions that she did not know she needed to ask.

If you have not had occasion to see Disney's Tangled you can watch a preview for the movie below.

A Bug's Life: Animated Ant Movie - Welcome to Ant Island

Walt Disney's movie A Bug's Life takes you into the lives of ants. We follow the story of the Grasshoppers and the Ants with a muted awe. Flick is the main character who the audience trails on a journey to and from his home.

I selected this film because it's a story about being bullied, finding the strength to stand up for yourself, and discovering the truth about one's self. Flick is ant riddled with accidents and failed experiments. When he makes a big mistake and causes the sacrifice to the grasshoppers to be destroyed a chain of events is set off than will forever change Ant Island.

One of the scenes that I enjoy is when the circus bugs find out they were not hied for a performance, but rather to take on the domineering grasshoppers in a fight possibly to the death. The circus bugs look sick as they watch the ant children's play about what will happen in the battle. The circus bug decide to leave and let the ants fend for themselves until circumstances change their mind.

Now we shift over to Flicks astonishment when he learns the bugs he brought back with him to fight the grasshoppers are not what they appeared to be. He knows that one more time he has failed the colony and cannot bear it. When Dot becomes tapped in a life o death situation the circus bugs come to her aid. They are seen as heroes and are then easily persuaded to stay and help Flick with his plan to get rid of the Grasshoppers.

Of course, everything eventually blows up in Flicks face, and he is sent away. The gasshoppers envitably arrive, finding that their demands were not met, terrorize the colony. Dot is able to get away and find Flick. She needs help and flick his her only solution. It takes some convincing on Dots part because Flick has lost faith in himself. Dot reminds him of his potential in a scene that can only be described as precious. Flick finds the strength and courage to face the grasshopper bully and he is redeemed.

A Bug's Life teaches us that we should be poud of who or what we are, and not to let anyone tell us what we are or are not capable of doing. It's also a tale of love for you colony, and romantic love between Flick and the nerve ridden Princess Anna. It teaches us that we need to outshine the labels that other people cast upon us. This movie provides an excellent moral or message.

Disney's Mary Poppins - A Spoonful of Sugar Goes Along Way in this partially animated classic

Unless you lived under a rock you probably have at least heard of the Disney classic Mary Poppins. Its the tale of two children who have run off every nanny who has come their way (Personally, I cannot figure out why; after all, they are cute average children). That is, until Mary Poppins shows up on Cherry wood Lane, and ordinary outings and tasks take on a magical feel.

Disney's Mary Poppins staring Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dye has fantastic and catchy music scores. At the heart, however, the story is about a father, Mr. Banks, and his two children, Jane and Michael who have become disconnected from each other. It is Mary Poppins job to bring parent and child back together to a make a cohesive family unit.

I love when Mary Poppins is unpacking her carpet bag and pulling out various things, some much too large to be housed in such a small bag, and the children are trying to investigate how she managed to fit he stuff with in the confines of a limited space. I remember being curious myself as a child at how she managed to pull it off, The answer of course is magic, and that is exactly what Disney's Mary Poppins movie is, magic.

I also really enjoyed Mary Poppins showing the children how to put away their toys. If It was possible I think children would be more inclined to clean their rooms; though, I would be frustrated like Michael who had trouble snapping his figures to make the magic work. Snapping my fingers is a skill I have yet to master.

Dick Van Dyke, who plays Bert the sweeper, is a truly an amazing talent. His singing, dancing and comedic timing could be described as near perfection. Whether he is playing a multitude of instruments on the street or dancing on the roof tops above the streets below you are glued to your screen. Van Dyke and Andrews make a fantastic team.

Disney's The Princess and the Frog Movie - It's Not Slime: It's Mucus.

This is not a retelling of the classic the Frog Prince. There is no golden ball or wishing well; instead, you find the charming tale of a hardworking waitress, struggling to afford her own restaurant, and the play boy Prince Naveen whom is turned into a frog by an unsavory fellow. In order to break the spell and transfom himself back into a human again the Prince entices Tiana to kiss him. The plan goes awry when instead of breaking the spell Tiana is transformed into a frog herself. Together Prince Naveen and Tiana must find away to get back to their human form. Along the way the two will discover what they have been missing in their collective lives - each other.

Disney's The Princess and the Frog makes my top ten list of Disney animated movies because it reinvents an old classic in an innovative and timeless way. The future Princess is a good role model. Tiana works hard for what she wants, and doesn't expect to be handed anything because of some wish on a wishing star.

One of my favorite scenes in The Princess and The Frog is when Tiana discovers she has been turned into a frog, much to her horror. Tiana has always dislike frogs and now she is forced to live as one. While not intended by the magic man, Tiana's transformation from human to frog is beneficial. She now has time to get her priorities straight.

Another scene I love is the first scene in the movie whee the Charlotte and Tiana are listening to the story of the Frog Prince. Charlotte is practically drooling over every word and Tiana is repulsed by the fact the Princess had to kiss the frog. It reminds me both of the innocents of childhood and the fact that the same story can be understood by two people in two entirely separate ways based on their life experiences. Charlotte grasped a romantic tale of happily ever after and Tiana saw a story filled with terror.

The final scene of the Princess and The Frog should not be forgotten. At the end we see Charlotte dancing with Prince Naveen's brother and is actually considering waiting for him: Half joking, half serious. I guess some dreams never die.

Disney's The Little Mermaid - Let's Set Sail

Disney's The Little Mermaid tells the story of a Mermaid, Ariel, who dreams about being a human. Ariel years to learn more about her underworld culture. She want to understand the human world above her. She wants to know what it is like to have feet and to dance on them. She is curious about the human world, and that curiousity leads her on a new exciting adventure filled with love, danger and reconciliation.

I recommend this movie to children young and old because it's a stirs the imagination. It provides us with a magical escape to a fairy tale world that tugs at the heart strings.

Disney's Animated Film Tarzan - Let's Swing into Adventure

Walt Disney's animated movie Tarzan recounts the story of an orphaned boy who was adopted by a family of Gorilla's. It becomes apparent that Tarzan is different from the rest of his family; though, his mother tries to calm his fears. When Tarzan encounter Jane his journey of self discovery is truly able to take place. She provides the answers to the question he did not know to ask. As a traveller between two worlds Tarzan is faced with a choice: A life with Jane or his Gorilla family.

Tarzan speaks a general theme of family and self acceptance. That is why it makes my top 10 list of Disney movies The movement of the young innocent boy into the strong purposeful man engages the watcher's interest.

I enjoy watching the Gorillas exploring Jane's campsite. The scene shows how one culture can view the trappings of another in a totally different light. This is accomplished through music and other avenues.. Alien things take on new roles and purposes as Tantor, Turk and the Gorillas sift through the campsite.

One of my favorite scenes is when Tarzan faces, Sebor, the leopard. This is not because he is victorious in defeating the animal who murdered Kala's baby and his biological parents. After all, Tarzan in unaware of the strange and twisted history he and the leopard share.I find this scene significant because Tarzan dedicate his kill to Kerchack. This is a son's gesture to his cold and indifferent father. It is here that Tarzan seeks his father's acceptance.

It is only in death that Kerchak is able to grant Tarzan what he seeks: acceptance and love. Kerchak unofficially appoints Tarzan as the guardian of their family. It is at this point that Tarzan realizes he cannot leave his family. This realization comes with a price as he must let Jane go to England without him. Luckily for him Jane loves him enough to make a sacrifice of her own.. That is to say, Jane gives up the trappings of her familiar life for love.

Below you may heed Tarzan's call by checking out a preview for his movie. Warning: You may feel an overwhelming desire to swing from vines or beat on your chest.

Walt Disney's Mulan is an Animation Movie Gem - A Girl Worth Fighting For

Disney's Mulan is the animated story of a young woman who dresses up like a man in order to join China's Imperial Army. She takes her father's armor and conscription order in an effort to keep her father out of the army. Mulan believes her father, crippled, will die if he has to participate in the war. In this way her act bred out of love. It is the quest for a young woman's purpose and identity with in the family unit.

Disney's Mulan questions common thoughts about women during the time. Mulan's worth changes by which gender she appears to be. As a man she is strong and determined, as a woman she is treturous and silent. Mulan has no voice unless pretending to be Ping, her father's son. Though the movie focuses on gender to an extent the over all message is one of self acceptance and determination. For this reason Disney's Mulan makes my top ten list of Disney movies.

When I watch Mulan I always enjoy the montage or snippets of film set to the music of I'll Make a Man Out of You." I revel in Mulan's retrieval of the arrow from on top of a high wooden poll while tied down with weights around both wrists. This is a task that no other soldier was able to complete.

It is not until ambushed at the palace that General Chang is able to trust Mulan like he did Ping. Mulan devises a cunning plan, dressing her soldier friends up as concubines, to get Chang, herself, and the other three soldiers in the palace and save the emperor's life.

I was thoroughly satisfied when the royal adviser got take down a peg by the emperor. When he tries to block the Emperor's wishes to have Mulan join his council his plan backfires as the emperor offer the adviser's seat on the council to Mulan.

Disney's The Lion King - Let's Get Out of Wing

Disney's The Lion King tells the story of a young lion cub who faces the death of his father Mufasa. He blames himself for his father's death and banishes himself. Along the way he finds new friends, and a new life mission statement; however, Simba cannot escape his past when he runs into Nala, an old friend, and is forced to face his past. He must take become King and take his place in the circle of life.

Disney's The Lion King was included in my list because it beautifully explains life and death to its young audience. It elegantly shows that though things change to greater extent they remain the same.

This movie impacted out culture in a positive way . It stirred people imaginations and from the Disney movie the Lion King musical was born. The musical created a new score that was eventually put into the film called the morning report. The Morning Report showcased a circular influence between the two entities.

My favorite part of the movie is when Simba sings I Can't Wait to Be King. The song is humours with an creepy undertone as it foreshadows events to come. At this point Simba is unaware that for him to be King is father must die. Scar on the other hand is fully aware of the obstacles in his path to the throne: His brother and nephew.

Another key part of the film is the inevitable confrontation between Simba and Scar. The climax of the film. It is at this point we see the differences between the two rulers. Simba shows Scar mercy by banishing him, rather than killing Scar for murdering Mufasa.

Disney's Toy Story Trilogy - Animation beyond Infinity

I am lumping Disney's animated movies for Toy Story together because it is the continuing story of Woody and Buzz, and because the original movie and the two sequals are on equal footing. This is a rarity in any sequal.

For those unaware Toy Story is the answer to the question: What do your toys do when you leave the room? Toy Story follows the Sheriff Woody doll through his trials and tribulations: Competing for Andy's affection when Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger enters the picture, surrending to a toy museum in Japan because of fear of abandoment.or saying goodbye to old friends when the time comes.

When I was a young child I wondered if my toys had their own life when I left the room. Because this movie attempted to address this topic for me I have added to my Top Ten List of Disney Movies. The movie is imaginitive. It thourghly addresses the question of what it must be liek to be a toy.

The charactes of Woody and Buzz, voiced by Tom Hanks and Tim Allen, are well developed and defined. You feel Woody's confusion and emptiness as woody is cast aside fo the Shiney new Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger.

Thsi movie is not focused on romantic involvements but the bief encounters we see between Bo Peep and Woody They convey a depth of e motion that endears the couple to the viewer. That is to say, You feel lost when Bo Peep and Woody become separated. Her absense in the third and final film is duley noted. I continually hoped she woud find her way back to her old fiends.

Below is a Promo for Disney's Toy Story 3. Break out the popcorn and enjoy.
