What makes this grouch tick?
Oscar the grouch is the green cynical grouchy character from sesame street; though, he was not always so green. In the first season he was orange for a few episodes. Oscar lives in a dinted trash can where he hoards trash like stinking shoes. From the outside his home would appear small but the inside is huge. He even has a magical door that can take him to Grouchland U.S.A (a place where grouches live and bathe in cheese). He is famous for telling people to scram. Among the things he does not like is Christmas because Christmas is a time of giving and good will. He has even sang a song about his dislike for Christmas called "I hate Christmas." Despite the sentiment, the song is kind of catchy.
Oscar the Grouch is a devoted boyfriend to girlfriend Grundgetta "Grungie" who is also a grouch. He also has a baby niece name Irvine along with other grouch family. The character of Oscar was based on a cantankerous waiter at a place called Oscar's who took being grumpy to new heights. Jim Henson used to go to the diner to be entertained by the waiters attitude.
